Artist's Comments

It's been hot in Colorado. A couple weeks ago we broke several daytime high temperature records. It rarely gets above 100F here in Colorado (it's only happened like 50-some times in the 100+ years that we have tracked weather) and it broke 100 3 or 4 times. The day I shot this picture it was hot. Upper 90s. That's hot for Colorado.

So at the Zoo the keepers take care of their animals. In the case of the elephants that means a cooling shower from the fire hose. :) I think she liked it. A couple times she would open her mouth and the keepers would spray water in just like a large drinking fountain. It was fun.

I really like the movement of the water in this shot and the texture of the elephant's skin. It really shows up well in this shot. (and in the original, it's incredible!) Enjoy this shot and think about ways to cool off!

Poor guy.. I know how he feels. We have no AC for our house, hubby says we don't need it in CO.. =) Although, I was dyeing those days of extreme heat.. Pueblo I think is one of the few places here in CO. that is used to hot weather. They are always about 10 degrees hotter than the Springs. I really hope the "Hot" days are over!!!

This is a great shot! You did capture those textures really well!
